Faculty Development Program on Design Thinking for Educators
17 October 2026
Aditya School of Business Management (ASBM), Mumbai, organised a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Design Thinking for Faculty on Saturday, 17 October 2026. The interactive workshop aimed to equip faculty members with a human-centred approach to problem-solving and to explore innovative ways of enhancing teaching and learning in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The session was facilitated by Mr. Roji Philip, Global Head of AI Centre of Excellence at Speridian Technologies, who brings over 29 years of industry experience in technology, innovation, enterprise AI strategy and digital transformation.
The workshop introduced participants to the five stages of Design Thinking: Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test. Through collaborative activities, faculty members explored educational challenges from the students’ perspective, identified underlying needs, generated creative ideas and developed low-fidelity prototypes. Peer feedback and discussions encouraged participants to refine their solutions and identify practical applications within their teaching contexts.
A key highlight of the session was the exploration of how Design Thinking complements AI by helping educators identify the right problems before selecting appropriate technological solutions. The workshop emphasised the importance of student-centric learning, experimentation, creativity and continuous improvement in educational practices.
The session concluded with a reflection on the importance of understanding people, asking the right questions and testing ideas before implementing solutions. The program reinforced the institute’s commitment to continuous faculty development, innovation, and future-ready education.
